As a player, Doty worked at quarterback and wide receiver and helped on special teams during his Gamecock career. He played in 47 games with nine starts – six at quarterback and three at wide receiver. He completed 61.1 percent of his passes (160-for-262) for 1,696 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed 91 times for 193 yards and two scores and added 16 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. Doty posted a 2-4 record as a starting quarterback.

He was a proud graduate of Myrtle Beach High School’s Class of 1968. While at MBHS, he was an honor student who served as Student Body President. Frank was an all-conference basketball player and played on the baseball, JV football, and tennis teams. In 1972, he graduated from Davidson College with a degree in Psychology. While at Davidson, he played basketball under coach Terry Holland and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Frank dedicated his career to being a coach and teacher for Horry County Schools at Socastee High School, the Academy for the Arts, Science and Technology, and Adult Ed.

Crutchfield comes from Myrtle Beach High School in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was a six-sport athlete in golf, soccer, cross country, track and field, basketball and softball. Crutchfield was named first team all-region for golf her senior year.

In 1991, she transferred to Myrtle Beach High School, where she worked with GEP (Graduation Enhancement Program) students for four years before moving to the journalism classroom for 8 years. She was the advisor for the school's newspaper and yearbook and was twice selected as teacher of the year by
her peers. After retirement from the classroom, she worked as the school's athletic department secretary for two years before transitioning to the private sector. She served as secretary/local coordinator for the S.C. North South All Star Football game for 12 years.

Courtney grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC, where she was a 3-sport athlete and received All-Conference and All-State Honors in softball and tennis during her time as a Seahawk. Courtney was recently inducted into the Myrtle Beach High School Athletic Hall of Fame with 16 Varsity letters, the most of any female athlete at MBHS. Courtney is a graduate of Wingate University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Communications-Public Relations and a master’s degree in Sports Administration. She continued her softball career at Wingate from 2004-2008, winning a Conference Championship in 2006 with academic and athletic accolades within the conference and district.

Octavius Thomas was a standout linebacker for Myrtle Beach High School and a key member of the Seahawks’ 2010 AAA State Championship football team. A 2013 graduate, he recorded 225 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and five forced fumbles as a senior. He earned North/South All-Star, Defensive Player of the Year, Toast of the Coast, All-Region, and All-Zone honors before continuing his football career at Shepherd University, where he became an all-conference linebacker.

Docshee “Doc” Moore was a standout multi-sport athlete at Myrtle Beach High School, excelling in football, wrestling, and track and field. A 1994 graduate, Moore earned recognition for his toughness and athletic ability, including state shot put champion honors and multiple Defensive Player of the Game awards in football. He continued his football career at Newberry College, where he became part of the program’s defensive record book. Moore’s accomplishments as an athlete, coach, and community leader reflect the pride and tradition of Myrtle Beach High School.

Luke Edwards distinguished himself as an outstanding baseball player at Myrtle Beach High School, earning first-team all-region, all-state, MBHS Most Valuable Player, and Region VII AAAA Player of the Year honors. A 2018 graduate, Edwards continued his athletic career at Marshall University, where he became a standout performer. In 2022, he led the Herd in batting average, hits, runs, and RBI, tied for the team lead in home runs, and earned All-Conference USA and NCAA Division I East All-Region recognition.

Ashley Clarke distinguished herself as one of the top girls basketball players in Myrtle Beach High School history. A 2008 graduate, Clarke earned three first-team all-state selections, three Conference Player of the Year honors, and was named 3A, All-Region, and All-Conference Player of the Year. She continued her career at East Carolina University, where she earned Conference USA Second Team and All-Defensive Team recognition, before transferring to South Carolina State University to complete her collegiate career.

Lavon Sumpter distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete at Myrtle Beach High School, excelling through speed, toughness, and competitive excellence. Recognized as one of South Carolina’s top sprinters, Sumpter left his mark in track and field while also continuing the proud football tradition of the Seahawks. He went on to compete at Georgia Tech, where he lettered in football in 1978.

James Rodman “Roddy” Rourk made a lasting impact on Myrtle Beach High School athletics through his service as a teacher, coach, mentor, and community leader. Remembered for his work with youth baseball, scouting, and recreation programs, Rourk helped guide and support generations of young people in Myrtle Beach. His dedication, character, and commitment to developing student-athletes remain an important part of the proud tradition of Seahawk athletics and is remembered fondly throughout the community.

BASEBALL/FOOTBALL
J.D. Melton distinguished himself as one of Myrtle Beach High School’s outstanding two-sport athletes, excelling in both baseball and football. A standout baseball player, Melton earned AAA All-State honors, Region VII AAA Player of the Year, First-Team Toast of the Coast recognition, and selection to the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game. On the football field, he was an All-American quarterback and was named South Carolina Mr. Football after a record-setting senior season. Melton continued his baseball career at Wofford College and the United States Naval Academy, earning Freshman All-American and All-Patriot League honors.
KHADIJAH SESSIONS
BASKETBALL
In her four seasons in a Gamecock uniform (2013-16), Sessions helped South Carolina to three SEC regular-season championships and a pair of SEC tournament titles. A three-year starter, she was part of the program’s first NCAA Final Four team as a junior in 2014-15 and was named a captain the following season. After graduation, Sessions spent a season playing overseas in Finland and later helped the United States to gold in the 2019 FIBA AmeriCup, a team coached by Staley.
After retiring as a player, Sessions turned to coaching, privately training young basketball players in the Columbia area and leading a youth AAU team. In August 2020, she made the move to join Ridge View High School as its junior varsity head coach and an assistant coach for its varsity squad. She closed out her two seasons with the Blazers with the varsity team claiming the 2022 5A State Championship. Throughout her time coaching, she has seen 10 of her players go on to play at the college level.
Sessions graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality, restaurant, tourism management.
LESTER BROWN
FOOTBALL/TRACK
Brown attended Myrtle Beach High School, where he played at running back. He accepted a football scholarship from Clemson University. As a sophomore, he was a backup behind Warren Ratchford, registering 416 rushing yards (second on the team) and 9 touchdowns (led the team).
He became a starter as a junior, helping the team finish with an 11–1 record and a #6 ranking in the nation. He tallied 1,022 rushing yards, a 5.1-yard average, 17 touchdowns (school record) and ranked fourth in the nation in scoring. Two time CFL All-Star
RAMON SESSIONS
BASKETBALL
Sessions was named South Carolina 3A State Player of the Year three times while attending Myrtle Beach High School. He led his team to the 3A State Championship as a sophomore.[1]
Sessions played three seasons at Nevada between 2004 and 2007, earning career averages of 8.8 points, 4.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He ranks second in school history in assists (478) and ninth in steals (113). He set a school freshman record with 166 assists and was named to the WAC All-Newcomer Team. As a junior in 2006–07, he earned Second Team All-WAC honors and was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award.

At Myrtle Beach High School, Golson threw 151 career touchdown passes for the football team, leading them to the AAA state titles in both 2008 and 2010. In addition, he helped lead the basketball team to a state championship in 2008 as a point guard and was named to the all-state team. Everett led Notre Dame to the national championship game.

BASKETBALL
Brit Canty-Wilson was a standout for the Seahawks earning many honors. Brit played for the USC Gamecocks. She has made a career at the University of South Carolina.
In addition to her role as instructional technology manager right here at the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business, Brit (Canty) Wilson was the first female president of the USC Association of Lettermen.
