MB BASEBALL SECURES FIRST REGION WIN BEHIND GOFF'S GEM
Both teams were strong on the bump on Friday, but Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks defeated St. James 3-1. Goff started the game for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks and recorded 21 outs.
St. James opened the scoring in the fifth after Barker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth after Mays singled down the right field line, Bolick grounded out, and Delfin walked, each scoring one run.
Goff earned the win for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. Klein took the loss for St. James. The pitcher went six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out nine and walking three.
Cooksey, Delfin, and Mays each collected one hit for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks. Bolick and Mays were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks.
Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks welcome Conway on Monday for their next game.
