MB BASEBALL LOSES IN EXTRAS
Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks fell to Conway 3-2 on Wednesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the eighth when Neff was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Both teams were strong on the mound. Conway pitchers struck out 15, while Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks sat down three.
Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks got on the board in the top of the fifth inning after Moran singled to center field, and Mays grounded out, each scoring one run.
Conway tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a ground out by Dawes, and an error.
Roof earned the win for Conway. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking none. Mays took the loss for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up one run on three hits, striking out one and walking two. Goff led things off on the mound for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks. The pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking three. Potter started on the mound for Conway. The pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Mays and Moran were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks. Moran led Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks with two hits in three at bats. Myrtle Beach Varsity Seahawks turned one double play in the game.
